AbstractAnalysis of both historic and morpho-anatomical on the species of the genus Pegusa helped to clearly define this genus, often confused with Solea. Pegusa lascaris (Risso, 1810), Pegusa nasuta (Pallas, 1814), Pegusa triophthalma Bleeker, 1863) and Pegusa cadenati (Chabanaud, 1954) form a well supported clade within the Soleidae. Unfortunately, this information does not enable us to completely decipher the interrelationships between these four species. An identification key to the four species of the genus Pegusa is provided.
